About Me
I am from Scarborough, England at the South Eastern fringe of the North Yorkshire Moors. The picture in the page banner is of the Vale of Cleveland taken from the North Yorkshire Moors. Today I live in Raleigh, North Carolina, with my wife Marguerite and our little Jack Russell terrier Darby.
Several years ago I retired from my career in engineering and became free to spend a few years ocean voyaging offshore in my sailboat before setting up an art studio at home in North Carolina. I was inspired to offer my pet portraiture services after finding that portraits I created as gifts were so very well received. This, in addition to my love of of our dog Darby, steered me to specialize in creating pet portraits which I really enjoy doing.
My wife Marguerite, a realtor, has very appropriately, given my house drawings to buyers on successful completion of home buying deals. My house drawings are popular with colleagues in her real estate office.

Choose from this range of custom artwork which can be produced specially for you. Pet portraits and drawings of houses make very pleasing gifts. The artwork can be used for the creation of note cards or T-shirts. Contact me if you need an artwork product that is not listed below, for example, a different size of portrait.

For pet portraits, the prices in the table are good for one pet only in a portrait. Adding a second pet pet or the same pet with a different pose one picture incurs an additional price. The charge per pet or pose is about 35 percent of the base price for the chosen portrait size.

Postage charges will be added at cost. Packing and handling charges will be a nominal charge of $5.00.

Photo Tips
Having a good photograph of the portrait subject helps to ensure a pleasing portrait.
Photographic Quality
- The subject should be in sharp focus
- The subject should be near the camera
- Digital color photographs are preferred
- The picture should have a resolution of 2 Mbytes (most digital cameras are capable of this or better)
Shot Quality

Ideally, the subjects head should be at about the same height as the camera lens. This may require the subject to be placed on a table, say or for you to get down low and shoot with your camera at the same height as your pet's head.

Take the shot in natural light if you can.

Take your shot in diffused sunlight rather than in direct sunlight or take the shot with yout pet in the shade.

Remember that the eyes are the windows to the soul, so no red eye reflections from them please.
